FIFA World Cup 2010 is on it’s peak now. Design and the specifications of the Match Ball of the world cup have always been special factors for any world cup.

This world cup’s match ball is named as Jabulani and it is the production from Adidas.

Jabulani means ‘rejoice in Zulu. If you translate literally, it means to celebrate.

Jabulani ball has 11 colours on it to represent 11 players in the team, 11 official languages of South Africa, 11 communities in South Africa. And of course the final will be held on 11th of July. :)

These balls are produced in China and the raw materials are imported from Kerala-India and Taiwan.

Jabulani is the first official  match ball that is moulded by to keep the complete spherical shape.

Radio Frequency Identification – RFID in plain English

April 27th, 2010 Vijay No comments

What if barcodes were replaced by chips that could not only be read more quickly but could have their information updated as well? And what if those chips could communicate with other devices? These chips already exist and the technology they use is called RFID – short for Radio Frequency IDentification.

RFID from wiki …

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the use of an object (typically referred to as an RFID tag) applied to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purpose of identification and tracking using radio waves. Some tags can be read from several meters away and beyond the line of sight of the reader.

Below given animation video is RFID in plain English and explains how it is rapidly becoming a key technology.

Isn’t an interesting explanation?

Just wondering the supermarkets like Asda & Tesco without any counters and queues!!! :)
