Radio Frequency Identification – RFID in plain English

April 27th, 2010 No comments

What if barcodes were replaced by chips that could not only be read more quickly but could have their information updated as well? And what if those chips could communicate with other devices? These chips already exist and the technology they use is called RFID – short for Radio Frequency IDentification.

RFID from wiki …

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the use of an object (typically referred to as an RFID tag) applied to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purpose of identification and tracking using radio waves. Some tags can be read from several meters away and beyond the line of sight of the reader.

Below given animation video is RFID in plain English and explains how it is rapidly becoming a key technology.

Isn’t an interesting explanation?

Just wondering the supermarkets like Asda & Tesco without any counters and queues!!! :)

Opera mini browser for iPhone released

April 15th, 2010 1 comment

Opera Mini browser was submitted on Apple iTunes store in March last week. There were so many debates going on in blogosphere, about the approval process by Apple. As it is a direct competition to Safari, many predicted that this won’t be approved by Apple.

Despite of all these arguments, Opera Mini Browser is now made available to public in Apple Store. This app has been approved by Apple on 13 Apr 2010, after 20 days.

It’s slick interface really gives a better performance.  Here are few screenshots from Opera Mini Browser.

Opera Mini Browser video demo would explain more about the features and performance. Opera Mini had definitely created really a tough competition to Apple Safari.

I have just installed the app and the first experience is good. Still a lot more to explore.

Download Opera Mini Browser from Apple App Store.
