Indian composer A R Rahman created history by becoming the first Indian to bag two Oscars for his work in British filmmaker Danny Boyle’s much acclaimed “Slumdog Millionaire”.
He ended the acceptance speech by saying “Ella pugazhum Iraivanuke! – God is great!” in Tamil, something he says after winning every award.
“All my life I had a choice between hate and love. I chose love and I am here,” said Rahman after receiving his second golden statuette here.
I have already posted couple of posts on copycat work in Indian music. This post is again on the same context but the only difference here is international music composers copied our A.R.Rahman’s music.
This video has few songs which are composed by international composers by having A.R.Rahman’s tunes as base.
These tunes are the inspirations copycat work from A.R.R’s music. They haven’t even changed the lyrics.
“Warriors of Heaven and Earth” is one if the masterpiece by A.R.Rahman. This was his first Chinese movie where he gave tremendous music tracks. Though the movie did not go well, A.R.Rahman’s music made a wave in Chinese film industry and the music track of this movie was released as a separate music album, “Between Heaven and Earth”, which contains all BGMs and two songs. I have already written a post, Between Heaven and Earth, on this.
This post is nothing to speak about A.R.Rahman. This is all about other music directors, copycats, who stole his music and used in their movies. First listen to the original track given below. I love this.
Now it is time to listen the copycat work. Though there is a huge list I just posted a few below.
Kalaaba Kadhalan – Niru
Nottam – Jayachandran M
Thagappansamy – Srikanth Deva
Ek Ajnabee – Amar Mohile
Asadhyudu -Chakri
Zinda – Shibani Kashyap
If a tune is catchy then they can have it as a base, inspiration, and produce their own tune. But what I see here is, a copycat work.
Warriors of Heaven and Earth. This is a Chinese movie for which the music is composed by our A.R.Rahman. Following the film’s release, the score and soundtrack were released in one album separately, under the title “Between Heaven and Earth”. I have been searching for this music album for a long time. Recently I downloaded the tracks from www.cooltoad.com.
There are 15 tracks available in this album. Theme song is available in three languages, out of which one is in Hindi. All the tracks are too good. As usual Rahman had done a lot of experiments in his own way. This is one of my favourite music albums by A.R.Rahman.
The track given below is one of the best in this album.
Our Taj Mahal is listed in the New Seven Wonders. In order to promote this, A.R.Rahman, released an album called One Love (Taj Anthem). This same song is available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali and Kannada languages.
