What is Bailout? – An easy explanation

December 9th, 2011 2 comments

Euro Note

What does Bailout mean? Learn Financial jargon in a funny way.

It is a slow day in a little Greek Village. The rain is beating down and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit.

On this particular day a rich German tourist is driving through the village, stops at the local hotel and lays a €100 note on the desk, telling the hotel owner he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night.

The owner gives him some keys and, as soon as the visitor has walked upstairs, the hotelier grabs the €100 note and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher.

The butcher takes the €100 note and runs down the street to repay his debt to the pig farmer. The pig farmer takes the €100 note and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel.

The guy at the Farmers’ Co-op takes the €100 note and runs to pay his drinks bill at the taverna. The publican slips the money along to the local prostitute drinking at the bar, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer him “services” on credit. The hooker then rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill to the hotel owner with the €100 note.

The hotel proprietor then places the €100 note back on the counter so the rich traveller will not suspect anything. At that moment the traveller comes down the stairs, picks up the €100 note, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money, and leaves town.

No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole village is now out of debt and looking to the future with a lot more optimism. And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is how the bailout package works.

What happen to your iPhone when you leave it in parked car?

What happen to your iPhone when you keep it on Microwave Oven? LOL :)

What happen to your iPhone when it is kept in parked car?

Recently I left my iPhone in my car at parking area. Couple of hours latter I realized, and went back to my car and shocked when I looked at the phone display.

This is what will happen to your iPhone if you keep it on parked car.

It states “iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it”. Also the surface of the was very hot.

I did not know what to do then; just kept it on Freezer (crazy…) to cool down the temperature for 5 minutes :) And it came back to normal state. I would not recommend you to do this, as the phone gets cool down if you keep it in normal/room temperature.

Then searched on Apple site to understand the reason for such behavior and found some interesting points…

Keep points are…

Store the device in a place where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.

Leaving the device in a car on a hot day

Leaving it in direct sunlight for extended amounts of time

Using certain features in hot conditions or direct sunlight for long periods of time, such as GPS tracking in a car on a sunny day or listening to music while in direct sunlight

Please go through Apple’s recommendations for detailed information and better understanding.

Keep your iPhone safe.

Is drinking tap water really bad for health?

    July 1st, 2010 No comments

“Is drinking tap water really bad for health?”

This is a tough question to be answered. In present social life, many of us started drinking bottled water though tap water is easily available. Only reason for this is health conscious. Bottled water is good for health. But it doesn’t mean that tap water is bad for health.

Storyofstuff project had taken this point in a different dimension and claiming that the “Bottled Water” concept is a manufactured demand rather than the customer demand. Check out this video.

    What do you think?

This video raised questions on the health and safety measures in recycling. Especially dumping everything onto other’s garden (India) is a sad fact!

Also the concepts explained in this video might be suitable for grown countries like US and UK. But countries like India, China and Africa might not have the pure tap water all the times and places. However this comes under debate…

Bottled ‘water’ is not bad for health; but the consequences created by bottled water is bad for the society and for future generation.

Many road safety campaigns targets the drivers and the passengers. But Bangalore Traffic Police targets the driver’s friends and relatives in this innovative ad campaign.

These bloody campaigns would definitely have the impact among public.
