February 24th, 2010 Vijay 6 comments

Google Chrome ExtensionsUsage of Google Chrome is increasing over the web. Especially the growth rate has been increased after it’s recent release with support to extensions.

Chrome’s extension base is also growing rapidly. Though Chrome doesn’t have as many extensions as Firefox has, the growth rate of Chrome Extensions created a healthier browser war.

Here are some extensions which we think that would help you to have better browsing experience.

1. RSS Subscription Extension
This extension auto-detects RSS feeds on the page you are reading and upon finding one will display an RSS icon in the Omnibox, allowing you to click on it to preview the feed content and subscribe.

2. Webpage Screenshot
Fast&Simple extension to capture the whole webpage. Even long pages are saved in one image file. This extension lets you save PNG image of any webpage. Just one click. Designers can choose to resize the window before capturing.

3. Google Reader Notifier
Displays the Google Reader unread count. Clicking the icon shows a preview of your reading list in a popup or it can open Reader in a new tab.

4. Google Mail Checker
Displays the number of unread messages in your Google Mail inbox. You can also click the button to open your inbox.

5. goo.gl URL Shortener
Shorten url with goo.gl. Once compressed the url is automatically copied to clipboard and you can share it with Twitter, Facebook, Blogger, Delicious, Digg, MySpace, Google Reader, Gmail or your default mail client.
There is also the possibility to create custom keyboard shortcuts for shortening the url and copy to clipboard or share with any of supported services

Please feel free to suggest any other useful extensions in Comments section.

London is snowed with Google Chrome advertisements

January 8th, 2010 Vijay 2 comments

I have been to London to spend the New Year holidays. Entire london was snowed with Google Chrome advertisements.

London streets, Tube stations, Train stations are the occupied with Google Chrome ads. The ads are quiet interesting and bit innovative too.

This trip to London gave me an impression that London is the brand ambassador for Google and Chrome.

Below are the few snaps taken during the trip.

How to open Google Chrome in Incognito mode by default?

December 1st, 2009 Vijay No comments

Incognito mode is one of the cool feature provided by Google Chrome for private browsing.

By definition, Incognito mode means that,

Webpages that you open and files downloaded while you are incognito aren’t recorded in your browsing and download histories.

All new cookies are deleted after you close the incognito window.

You can customize your chrome browser so as to always open in Incognito mode.

Create a new shortcut for Chrome. Open it’s property dialog add –incognito option at the end.

Google_Chrome_In_Incognito_ModeNow whenever you open Chrome browser using this shortcut, it will always be opened in incognito mode.

Alternate way is to open the incognito mode from browser menu option.

However, I would prefer to open the incognito mode window using the shortcut key Ctrl+Shift+N
